No State Commission meetings in Hateful Places

The Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Commission (THGAAC) is scheduled to hold their quarterly meeting this December at the Christians United for Israel (CUFI) office in San Antonio. Hosting this public meeting at CUFI’s office raises serious concerns about accessibility for the general public, potentially violating the Texas Open Meetings Act (TOMA).

As a state commission appointed directly by Governor Abbott, THGAAC has a responsibility to ensure their meetings are held in spaces that are accessible, neutral, and inclusive. Holding a meeting in a location associated with CUFI—a group known for promoting exclusionary and harmful rhetoric—sends a troubling message. This decision undermines the integrity of the commission and its mission to address hate, discrimination, and genocide.

We urge the Texas Historical Commission (THC), which oversees the THGAAC, to reconsider this decision of holding their meeting in a hateful place and demand they host their meeting in a location that upholds public trust and transparency.

Join us in speaking out by participating in our letter campaign. Together, we can hold the commission accountable and advocate for a more just and accessible process.
